On Friday, Meredith and I left the city to drive half an hour across the river to Cahokia Mounds.
When I learned about them in art history, the Mounds sounded magical. When I saw them in real life, they weren’t that magical. But a knowledge of ancient peoples constructing them is neat.
I love being high up with the ability to see all around. The 10-story high Monks Mound met that requirement. We spread out a quilt and watched the sun set behind St. Louis in the distance.
